First post!
This blog is dedicated to speaking about, and speaking out against, rape and other forms of sexual assault. I’ll be posting things both personal and general. Posts may be triggery – I’ll do my best to warn you if they are.
Why is this blog called “Never Silent”? Because there is a culture of silence that surrounds rape – there is societal pressure to not speak of this, not acknowledge that it happened. But closing our eyes and wishing won’t make it go away, and silence hurts us – as survivors, and as a community. Silence isolates.
If there are only three messages you take from this blog, let them be these:
* Rape is wrong. It is always wrong. It’s wrong if she’s a stranger, it’s wrong if she’s your friend, your girlfriend.
* If you are a survivor, survive. Get up. Keep walking.
* You are not alone.
